Dental Fillings

What is a dental filling?

A dental filling is the process of replacing diseased or lost dental tissue with a biocompatible material to restore the tooth's original structure and function.

How long do fillings last?

As a filling is not the same as having a full natural tooth, they may need maintenance every so often. However, if they are taken care of and the areas are kept clean, fillings can potentially last a lifetime without the need for further work being done.

What types of fillings can I get?

We offer a range of filling materials such as dental amalgam, composites, glass ionomer, metallic, porcelain, gold etc. We will assess which materials would be most suitable and discuss your preferences, and from this, draw out a treatment plan together.

What about 'composite bonding'?

'Composite bonding' typically is a minimally invasive way to adjust the appearance of teeth without the need for brace work. It is case dependant and will need a discussion with your dentist.
